Reflecting on how this project has extended my knowledge and understanding of the goal: The knowledge and experiences gained through this project helped me hone my skills in dance, music creation, choreography and writing. It also helped me explore a new style of dance, “Jazz”. I learnt different applications and software used and the specialty and impact of each instrument therein. The project also gave me a vast exposure on audio and video recording and editing tools. A thorough research about Ms.Sushma, her eventful journey, her qualities, characteristics and selfless contributions to this world, taught me a profound moral lesson for life. I was glad to have made a project on her journey as she truly is an inspiration to everyone! Evaluating the quality of the product/ outcome: The final product was a 6 minutes, 22 seconds long video that fulfilled the purpose and motive of the project. Its aesthetics brought out the tone of the video. The contrasting black and white costume, connoted the struggles she faced and how she rose above it and came out victorious. Special background effects like transitions, and slow-motions along with the variations in the intensity of the background music thoroughly helped in bringing out an empathetic mood in the audience. The tone in the voiceover, portrayed the true essence of Sushma Swaraj’s life story by showing her bravery and dedication, in spite of numerous struggles. Lighting effects, music, audio and video are of prime quality. English subtitles were added for better understanding. The story is inspirational for both adolescents and millennials. Overall, the video output matched my expectations and was highly aesthetic and appealing. |
Reflecting on the development of IB learner profiles through this project: Communicator - From the initial stage of research and interview with different people; to the advanced stages of development and report writing, clear communication was the key to crisp expression and understanding of people's viewpoint. I recognized that interaction is dependent on many factors: the position the person holds, how well you know them, the context of the meeting and the current situation. Reflective - Helped me analyze where, what and how the project lacks and what can be done to improve it. Regular meetings with supervisor and weekly reflection, improved my reflection skills and observations and focus started getting more precise and to the point, which helped me improve the quality of my product as well as report. Inquirer - For this product, I had to acquire different opinions of the stakeholders and ask them who they found exemplary, what kind of apps they use for music creation and video editing and how they would prefer a documentary: in the form of a story or a more statistical approach. This helped me improve my inquisitiveness. For example, learning a whole new style of dance, all by myself, with just a little support from the internet and my peers. Reflecting on how completing the project has extended knowledge and understanding of the global context: Thorough research on Ms. Sushma Swaraj also evolved my perception about the politics of India and it’s political leaders. I observed the changes in the control of patriarchy in the government and could link it to Fairness and Development to understand how unfair the patriarchy treats women and how it limits their opportunities. But, after constant efforts after women like her, one can see the development and the gradual progression in countries like India. |
